AW19 Trends from New York Fashion Week

AW19 Trends from New York Fashion Week

It’s that time of year again to start looking towards what could be happening further through 2019 as the top designers from around the world gather to show the latest trends at fashion week!

As always, we’ll be reviewing each show and curating a roundup of the trends that we think will be the ones worth investing in for AW19!

Spotlight on: New York

Fur

A trend that we noticed across all Fashion Week shows, that was also prominent in the New York Fashion Week was the use of various fur fabrics. Lots of collections made use of this rugged texture, so we’re willing to bet that 2019 will be another big year for snuggly faux furs!

Joyful Colours

All of the Fashion Week shows this year made use of bright pops of colour, and New York was no different. Here, we saw designers mixing a variety of intense, rich reds and oranges with unusual pastels and luxuriant blues!

Layers

More than in the other Fashion Week shows, New York showed us a whole host of ensembles that relied heavily on multiple layers of garments stacked on top of one another to create a sophisticated shabby chic look!

Print

The designers of New York really went to town this season on bold, bespoke prints. Using these daring graphics in contrast with plain fabric colours and textures really helped pieces from each collection stand out!

Boxy Silhouettes

Alongside the trend for oversized garments that is coming through strongly this season, we also saw plenty of examples of boxy silhouettes, reminiscent of 1920’s flapper styling. These cuts eliminate ultra feminine curves and give an androgynous quality to the collections that is extremely popular at the moment!
